Google Leased Wave Testing Acceptance Standards
Google was leasing circuits but there was not a clear testing acceptance criteria at hand.
Developed a testing acceptance document for leased transparent wavelenghts as well as lower rate SONET
/ SDH / Ethernet Circuits
Google Sparing Analysis
Google was paying costly yearly fees for Sparing Services to Optical Vendors.
Analyzed data and performed Equipment Sparing Analysis based on FITS (equipment failure rate ),
Network Availability Goals and global regional equipment density cost justify owning our own spares.
Realized significant recurring financial savings for Google.
Google Optical Network Management System
Google’s optical network was being managed without Network Management Servers
Gathered information on existing Optical Management Servers projects and successfully troubleshot and
launched the first Optical Network Management Servers for Google
Google Optical Coherent Network Evolution
Google’s optical long haul network first grew over legacy non coherent Optical Networks. The goal was to
evaluate, test, and migrate these networks to 100 Gig Coherent Optical Networks
Lab Tested Coherent optical networks, worked with Network Architecture to set revise Network
Performance recommendations ( Q values ) , also worked with Network Deployment to assist on First Field
Applications and successfully migrated the first non coherent Routes to 100 Gig Coherent .

feasible was implemented i.e. Traffic reroute, Cross connect reconfiguration, Fiber bypass, etc. The
experience observed translated into minimized outage times; therefore providing financial benefits (reduced
outage credits) and improved customer service.
Performance Engineering on the network was improved through the use of our Laboratory to detect
multiple IP, DWDM , SONET and SDH equipment software and hardware issues which were potentially
service affecting to customer traffic. These issues were often new to the equipment manufacturer and we
worked closely with the equipment vendor to develop and test cutting edge solutions and become 1st to
market with solutions.
